Sportswriter Furman Bisher died this week at the age of 93. His columns were numerous, his achievements were many, and his contributions were noteworthy. Each year on Thanksgiving he would write a column about what he was thankful for. I always looked forward to reading his list on Thanksgiving morning, beginning with the newspaper itself and then on-line for the last several years. His column always made me stop and think about the things I was thankful for. I would jot them down, and I even imitated him by doing them on this blog. Today, I'm thankful that Furman Bisher helped bring professional sports to Atlanta, I'm thankful that he helped the AJC "cover Dixie like the dew", but most of all I'm thankful that he shared with us what he was thankful for. Selah.
