Memorial Gymnasium at Vanderbilt University is unique among college basketball venues in that the respective team benches are on either end of the court, as opposed to being on the sides of the court. The gym floor is also built up higher than the floor of the arena, thus giving it a stage effect. Advantage Vandy? Some opposition coaches maintain that it is since it is the only facility with such different circumstances for visiting teams. However, the setup of the facility is not likely to change since renovations to 'Memorial' have not addressed the issue. The seating capacity for basketball is 14,168.
