A-Rod: Too Rich to Hit..

Alex Rodriguez salary for 2012 is $29,000,000. This $29 million dollar man was pulled from the Yankees line-up in the bottom of the ninth for pinch hitter Raul Ibanez  New York trailed Baltimore at that point 2-1.To make a long story short. Ibanez homers in that at-bat to tie the game, then homers again in the 12th to secure a 3-2 walk-off playoff win for the Yanks. Incidentally, Raul Ibanez salary for this year is $1.1 million.
A-Rod is 1 for 9 with 5 strikeouts in these playoffs. The proverbial "Mendoza Line" (.200 avg.) looks sweet to him as he hovers around .111. It just struck me as ironic that the highest paid player on your roster would be pulled from a crucial point in a crucial game for a pinch hitter. I understand the human element in the equation, but I always thought players like Rodriguez were paid the big bucks to perform and come through in the clutch But A-Rod has never been clutch in the post-season. It's your dime, Yankees. Just sayin...
