NASCAR: It's Just A Matter of Time...

It happens every time there is a restrictor plate race. It doesn't happen some of the time, it happens all of the time. It is never a matter of 'if' the big pile-up will occur, it's a matter of 'when'. It will happen; it always does. I know it, you know it, the drivers know it, and NASCAR knows it. They just won't implement any changes to prevent it. The latest incident at Talladega Sunday involved 25 cars. Miraculously, not a single driver was seriously injured. But sooner or later that will change. Regardless of how safe these stock cars are, and they are very safe, some driver will be seriously hurt if these multi-car pile-ups continue to occur on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega. NASCAR is one of the most controlling bodies in all of sports, except maybe for the WWE, so they could assemble a team of engineers to solve this situation if they so desired. They just don't want to, and I just don't get it.
